Pachymetry is a simple, painless, and quick test that measures your cornea thickness, the clear, dome-shaped window at the front of your eye. The test is done using a pachymeter probe or advanced imaging devices.

The measurement of corneal thickness, also called corneal pachymetry, plays an important role in diagnosing and managing various eye conditions like glaucoma, keratoconus, and corneal dystrophies, as well as assessing eligibility for LASIK surgery.

When is a Pachymetry Test Recommended?

A corneal pachymetry test is usually advised in the following situations:

To check if the cornea thickness is suitable for LASIK or if another laser eye surgery option (like EpiLASIK or ICL) is better.
As part of a routine eye exam if the doctor suspects corneal abnormalities.
