Education
He completed his MBBS from Terna Medical College, Navi Mumbai and subsequently went on to accomplish his MS Ophthalmology from the prestigious Institute of Naval Medicine, INHS Asvini, Mumbai. At INHS Asvini he was deeply inspired by his mentor, Dr. (Air Commodore) Hemant Trehan, to undergo further training in relation to the posterior segment of the eye.

Dr. Doshi pursued a 2-year fellowship in the field of ‘Vitreo-retina and Uveitis’ at the world-renowned LV Prasad Eye Institute under the guidance of Dr. Avinash Pathengay. 

Experience
After completing the fellowship, he continued serving at LVPEI as a consultant for another 2 years. Here, he had the opportunity to pass on his knowledge and experience to many fellow and resident doctors in the department.

He has performed over 1,500 procedures, which include cataract surgeries, diabetic vitrectomies, retinal detachment surgeries, macular surgeries and scleral buckle surgeries. In addition, he has given over 1,500 intravitreal injections and performed more than 750 retina laser procedures, including retina laser treatment in infants suffering from retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). He has also successfully managed many complicated cases of uveitis (inflammation of the eye) and endophthalmitis (infection in the eye). This is noteworthy since these cases require a highly detailed know-how of the varied clinical presentations, investigation protocols and prolonged treatment courses.

During the course of his clinical practice Dr. Doshi has published articles in many reputed national and international medical journals and has also presented his research work at various national conferences.

- Dr Doshi has perfomed a many number of cataract surgeries.
Retinal Detachment Surgery - Retinal detachment sugeries require great skill to ensure success of the surgery. The types of eye problems are known to be difficult to treat. 
Diabetic Eye Surgery - DIabetic Eye surgery are very difficult retinal surgeries because of the nature of the disease.

Outside the operating room, Dr. Doshi keeps mentally and physically fit through the practice of Yoga (he is a certified Yoga Teacher). He is also a movie buff and passionate about football and photography.

He established the Blue Cross eye clinc as a second generation doctor.  Dr Deepak currently performs cataract surgeries and squint surgeries in individuals of all age groupsand thus has patients from 1 month old to 95 years old.  
Before that Dr Deepak worked at Lotus Eye Hospital in the Pediatric Ophthalmology department.  He also managed the pediatric emergency OPD for 5 months at Sankara Nethralaya before leaving.

Cataract Surgery
- Dr Garg has perfomed a significant number of cataract surgeries in the past 16 years.  These days it takes under 10 min and is done without any injections or sutures.
Squint Surgery - Being able to perform squint surgeries requires training which Dr Garg has received.  These days most squnits can be corrected by surgery.  The duration of surgery has reduced and post surgery recovery is also much faster.
Myopia Control - Myopia is the latest pandemic and Dr Garg firmly believes that however small or large the myopia maybe today for your child, it is critical to use techniques and tools available to reduce the risk of progression.

Other Engagements
Apart from being an avid trekker and runner, Dr Deepak Garg is an active Rotarian. He has been the past president of The Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-Town. At this club he heads the free cataract surgery program. Through this program the club performs about 200 free cataract surgeries every year. He is also a trustee at Shri Ganapati Netralaya which is one of the largest eye hospitals in Western India and is a not for profit eye care institute. He also sits on the board of the Qimpro Foundation.
